Officer Romag from the Arlington Heights Police Department visited our classroom on Friday afternoon to talk to us about stranger safety, internet safety, and bullying. She had some great tips for us on how to keep safe.

What fun we had this week planning, practicing, and performing our favorite scenes from the novel, Ramona Quimby, Age 8. We definitely have some future actors and actresses among us! :) The 3rd grade scientists enjoyed testing horseshoe and bar magnets on different materials to see if they attracted or repelled. They also experimented whether the magnets worked through foam, cloth, aluminum foil, wax paper, index cards, and other materials. We listened and learned so much from each other on Friday morning during passion time sharing. These 3rd graders did an awesome job presenting their research on topics they are "PASSIONATE" about. Cellos, donuts, aliens,Taylor Swift, professional soccer players, and more! Our class is enjoying the opportunity to plan and design prototypes to solve "ready, set, design" challenges. The third graders have some well thought out ideas on how to solve problems like....a way to clean your dog, a way to move groceries up flights of stairs, a way to keep something secret. Check out their cool creations! The class has been experimenting with forces and motion during science this week. We learned that in order for something to move...a force needs to be applied. We had fun finding different ways to get a toy car moving, testing out regular and circular pendulums, doing a marble drop in a bowl, and working with a slinky. |
