In honor of the anniversary of September 11th students at Greenbrier performed good deeds. Each student in our class wrote a letter to an Arlington Heights firefighter to thank them for their service to our community. Teachers tied red yarn to students fingers after they performed their good deed.On Friday we learned about the life of Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable and his influence on Chicago. We enjoyed creating things to barter at our very own "trading post" in Room 124.We had fun playing "Name that Number" in cooperative groups during math this week. The students had fun creating paper plate portraits and writing juicy paragraphs about why they're important. They are pretty cool kids! The class enjoyed diving into some nonfiction books during reading. We worked in pairs to chose a book and practiced using a KWL (what we already Know, what we Want to learn, and what we Learned) chart before, during, and after we read. These third graders really enjoy their independent reading time. This week we reflected on ourselves as readers, chose "just right" books, and began our reading logs. |
