We had such fun playing Chicago Jeopardy to culminate our study of Chicago. Great teamwork! We had an awesome time participating in the annual Read-a-Thon. Many thanks to all who send in donations for our book drive. During reader's workshop we learned the three types of nonfiction: reference, literary, and biography. Partners had fun exploring lots of nonfiction books and used the text features to determine what types of book they are. Today, we learned how immigrants helped shape the city of Chicago. The students really enjoyed sharing their immigrant interviews with the class. Look at all the places our families are from! Dr. Lynn visited our class to lead us in a ready, set. design experience. Our challenge was to create a prototype that would help a dog survive the cold. We had some very cool inventions. Way to go, 3rd grade engineers! The 3rd graders are determined to solve these puzzle cubes! I'm very proud of their perseverance! What a gorgeous fall day it was for our field trip to Chicago! The students, parents, and I learned so much about the history of Chicago and its beautiful architecture. Many thanks to our fabulous room moms for chaperoning the trip. A great time was had by all! On Tuesday, we changed seats and formed new teams. Our mascots this month are Chicago themed. We now have: The Bean, Chicago Bulls, The Chicago River, and Navy Pier. |
