In honor of International Peace Day, our classroom brainstormed ways we could spread peace in the world. The third graders came up with wonderful ideas such as: smile at someone, give a compliment, hold a door, be friendly, be positive, help a friend, etc. Then we decorated a box and created a display in the front entrance of the school to celebrate this day.

After learning about Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable, the third graders experienced bartering for goods at our very own trading post. We traded cards representing calico, crops, fur pelts, gun powder, powder horns, beads, ribbon, and much more. It was fun to go back in time as an early settler. Congratulations to two of our classmates on a wonderful performance on Wednesday morning. We are so proud of you! :)The third grade classes were very excited to visit the "5th Grade Island" and to meet our "Wonder Buddy" for this school year. Our wonder buddies will guide us through the Passion Time experience. The third graders are learning our Day 2 spelling activity. We look at our word card, say it aloud, cover it, write it down and highlight anything we missed. Great practice! How can we carry groceries up many flights of stairs easily? The third grade engineers worked to design a model to solve this problem. They came up with some pretty cool ideas! |
