During social studies we are studying the history of the Midwest. This week we learned about America's workplace and talked about factories and assembly lines. Our class got a taste of what it's like to work at a factory. Each student performed a specific job to make Hershey kisses on an assembly line. The inspector checked for quality control...and some kisses did not pass inspection. On Tuesdays during WIN time, the students practice keyboarding skills. The class enjoyed playing a game of consonant cluster "Go Fish" during Word Work. The class participated in the "Cargo Plane Challenge" with Dr. Lynn on Friday morning. In teams, our engineers designed and built paper airplanes. The goal was to build an airplane that would fly the farthest. We planned, designed, tested, modified, and gave peer feedback....just like real engineers! The entire school headed outside on this beautiful day to BUILD a huge "G" on the playground. Our picture was taken with a really cool drone. It was awesome! Third, fourth, and fifth graders gathered in the commons for our very first "team BUILDING" activity of the school year. Students received puzzle pieces and worked together to BUILD and decorate colorful puzzles. Each puzzle had a word on it. These words are things we're going to try and BUILD this year! Go Team! :) |
