The students have been engaged in geography lessons this week. Today we used large Illinois maps to do an A to Z scavenger hunt with a buddy. The third grade elves were busy at work in Workshop 236 this week. We hope you enjoy your special gift. We learned so much from these wonderful presentations! Way to go, kiddos! Some of our classmates were ready to present their Brain Builder projects on Thursday and Friday. We learned so many cool facts from these experts! Great job on your posters, BrainPop videos, and Google slideshows! They were very impressive. This week we kicked off our fiction unit by reading Muggie Maggie by Beverly Cleary. We are learning how to use visual thinking routines to discuss the text. This week our visual thinking routine was "Color, Symbol, Image." The students are learning how to have great discussions in their book clubs. The third graders are really enjoying researching a topic they are passionate about. Can't wait to learn from these experts! Friday afternoon, the students enjoyed rotating to four math centers: The Allowance Game, Puzzleables, Uno, and Prodigy. On Friday, the students worked in cooperative groups to read nonfiction passages and determine what text structure the authors used to write them. Could it be.....chronological, description, compare/contrast, problem/solution, or cause/effect??? |
