The third grade scientists wondered if gravity had the same effect on all objects. The had fun making predictions and testing out their hypotheses.

Dr. Lynn and Mrs. Paulson challenged us to a measurement hunt on Tuesday. With a partner, a tape measure, and an ipad we searched our room for objects a specific lengths. We enjoyed snapping a picture of these items with our ipads. The goal was to be very precise! :) This week we kicked off our new science unit about forces and motion. Our scientists tested out some pretty cool ideas about how to get this toy car to start moving. We also tested out ways to get it to speed up, stop, and turn. We learned that an object will stay at rest until a force moves it, and will keep moving until a force stops it. The third grade classes worked together to research the history of Illinois. Each group was assigned a specific time period in our state's history to read about and take notes on. The next step was to write a script from the point of view of someone that lived during that time. Students created a graphic and recorded their picture and voices reading the script using iMovie. |
