Congratulations to our classmates who participated in Greenbrier's annual multicultural fair. Thank you for sharing your heritage with us. We are so very proud of you! In honor of Earth Day, the class brainstormed simple things we could do to help the Earth. We wrote our ideas on tags and hung them to the trees in the courtyard. Little things can make a BIG difference! The 3rd grade scientists were hard at work creating weather tools. We made weather vanes, anemometers, pinwheels, and rain gauges. We learned that all of these tools are helpful in collecting data used in predicting weather. The class enjoyed participating in a "blocks in a bag" experiment and learned about probability. The students did "blind draws", recorded their results, and made predictions about which colored blocks were secretly put in the bag. Great job sharing your passion for baking with the class. Look at those yummy treats! This week we culminated our "forces and motion" unit by designing and building Rube Goldberg machines. Our goal was to create a contraption using balanced and unbalanced forces that could wake you up in the morning. We learned that it takes several tries and many adjustments in order to get our contraptions working just right. Many thanks to Mrs. Pomis, Mrs. Rowland, and Mrs. Rosenblum for visiting our classroom during Everybody Counts week and teaching us about developmental delays. We appreciate your time and efforts. During science we used balloons and wool cloths to do some static electricity tests. We learned that electrically charged objects can exert a force on other objects. |
